U of Yoga (“we,” “us” or “our”) operates the website https://uofyoga.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit the Site, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.
Information We Collect
Information you give us. When you email us, subscribe to our newsletter or leave a comment, you may give us your name, email address and the content of your message or comment.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our servers and service providers automatically collect certain technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, pages viewed and the date and time of your visit.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies to keep the Site working, remember preferences, measure traffic and show advertising. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how the Site works.
Advertising and Google AdSense
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on the Site. Please be aware of the following:
- Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on the Site.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick DART cookie, enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this Site and other sites on the internet.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
Other third-party ad servers or ad networks may also use cookies, web beacons or similar technologies in the ads that appear on the Site. We do not control these third-party cookies, and their use is governed by the providers’ own privacy policies. To learn more about how Google uses data, see How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Where required by law (for example, for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), we ask for your consent before personalized advertising cookies are used, and you can change your choice at any time.
Amazon Associates and Affiliate Links
U of Yoga is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
When you click an Amazon link on the Site, Amazon may place cookies on your browser to track the referral and attribute any qualifying purchase to us. We do not receive your name, payment details or order information from Amazon. Your use of Amazon is governed by the Amazon Privacy Notice. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.
Analytics
We use analytics tools, such as Jetpack Stats and similar services, to understand how visitors use the Site, for example which pages are popular and how people find us. These tools collect information such as pages visited, approximate location and device type, usually in aggregated form. We use this information only to improve the Site.
Newsletter Emails
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we use your email address to send you yoga guides, updates and occasional announcements. Our email service provider processes your address on our behalf. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to remove you at any time by writing to hello@uofyoga.com.
Comments
When you leave a comment, we collect the data shown in the comment form, along with your IP address and browser user agent, to help detect spam. An anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you use it. After your comment is approved, your profile picture (if any) and comment are visible to the public.
Jetpack and Akismet
The Site uses Jetpack and Akismet, services provided by Automattic. Jetpack supports features such as site statistics, security and performance. Akismet checks comments and form submissions for spam and may process your IP address, user agent, name, email address and comment content for that purpose. Learn more in Automattic’s privacy policy.
How We Use Your Information
- To operate, maintain and improve the Site.
- To respond to your questions and messages.
- To send newsletters you have requested.
- To display and measure advertising that keeps the Site free.
- To protect the Site from spam, fraud and abuse.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only with service providers who help us run the Site (such as hosting, email, analytics, security and advertising partners), when required by law, or to protect our rights.
Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy. Comments and their metadata may be kept indefinitely so follow-up comments can be approved automatically. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe.
Your Rights Under GDPR (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. Our legal bases for processing are your consent, our legitimate interests in running and improving the Site, and compliance with legal obligations. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Your Rights Under the CCPA (California)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. To opt out of personalized ads, use the Google and aboutads.info links above, or contact us.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@uofyoga.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
Children’s Privacy
The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in some regions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Third-Party Links
The Site may link to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies. Our Yoga Studio Finder displays an embedded Google Map, which is provided by Google and subject to the Google Privacy Policy. If you choose “Use my location,” your browser shares your approximate location with Google Maps to show nearby studios; U of Yoga does not store it.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
