Quick answer
U of Yoga is a free international online yoga school and reference library. We publish clear, practical and safety-minded guides to yoga poses, styles, breathwork, meditation and philosophy so anyone, in any body and any country, can learn yoga at their own pace, at no cost.
Our Mission
We believe yoga belongs to everyone. Our mission is to make high quality yoga education free and easy to find for every body, at every age, in every country.
U of Yoga is not a studio and we do not sell classes. Think of us as an open campus: a library you can visit any time to learn a pose, understand a Sanskrit word, find a routine for tonight or explore where yoga comes from.

Jessica Bernstein created U of Yoga because she wanted one place that gathers clear, trustworthy yoga information for everyone. In her words: “Yoga saved my life.”
Jessica took her first class in 2010, starting with Bikram and hatha yoga, and hot 26 and 2 is still her favorite practice. In 2015 she completed her 200 hour RYT yoga teacher training at TruFusion Eastern in Las Vegas, training with Mark Balfe-Taylor. She competed in the 2024 USA Yoga competition season and practices in the Salt Lake City area at the studios we love. Read her take on Bikram yoga and yoga competitions.
Outside the studio, Jessica is the founder and CEO of Universally Found, a digital marketing agency, which is how U of Yoga is built to be easy to find and free to read.

How Do We Create Content?
Every guide follows our editorial policy. In short, we aim to be:
- Safety first. We explain modifications, props and warning signs, and we encourage you to talk to a healthcare provider about health concerns.
- Accurate. We draw on established yoga teaching and reputable public health sources, and we avoid exaggerated claims about what yoga can cure.
- Inclusive. We write for all bodies, ages, abilities and backgrounds, with options for beginners, seniors and anyone working with limitations.
- Practical. Numbered steps, concrete cues, hold times and simple routines you can actually follow at home.
- Kept current. We review and update guides over time and correct mistakes quickly.
Please note: Our content is educational and is not medical advice. Read our medical disclaimer before starting a new practice.
